Chasing a Fairytale

What is it with us girls? Why are we constantly chasing a romantic relationship full of play and passion? We go after what we see in the movies, which I'm really not sure even exists.
We grow up hearing stories of Cinderella and Snow White and are looking for something similar.
Although I hate to admit it, that's exactly what I want. I want a relationship so blissfully romantic that we long to be together. I want something straight out of a fairytale, so I might just keep on searching until I find it.
The trouble is that real life isn't like fairytales. It's complicated and messy and full of mistakes. It isn't this: boy falls in love with girl and gets girl. Boy loses girl and then gets girl back. The problem is that fairy tales only seem the cover "the beginning." They cover the battle of the beginning. Movies end with the wedding, assuming that everything after that will be pure hapiness. In real life, that's probably when most of the difficulties actually start.
So should we keep on chasing? Or should we settle?

  1. Janelle,
I love the post! SO TRUE!!! Life is not a fairy tale. Even though I am very happily married :) life doesn't just "end" with a wedding a everything is perfect all the time. Love and marriage is hard work! But once you get married and find that "one" that you want to share your life with, all that "hard work" is soo worth it! Love ya girl!
